As if Lake Erie were not scenic enough, this 293-mile Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Scenic Byway Route offers travellers the opportunity to explore beaches, state parks, preserves, lighthouses, vacation islands, quaint villages and big cities. Historians will enjoy the rich maritime history tours while recreational boaters will never run out of things to do. Lake Erie’s Coastal Scenic Byway West begins at Shoreland, Point Place; Toledo, it runs alongside Lake Erie and its notable stops include Port Clinton, South Bass Island, Middle Bass, Kelleys Island, Lakeside Marblehead, Bay View, Castalia, Sandusky, Cedar Point, Huron, and Beulah Beach!

Start: Shoreland, Point Place; Toledo

Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge

We begin our Point Place adventure in Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge home to plenty of hiking trails, fishing opportunities, wildlife watching, birding, photography and the opportunity for non-motorized boating. All of these are available from the parking lot on Yondota Road.  Access to the refuge is open from sunrise to sunset during designated months unless otherwise stated. Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge calls to hunters, anglers, hikers, and bird watchers. There is something for everyone and the wildlife is too lush to pass up.

Next stop, the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area complex has historically been inhabited by large numbers of waterfowl, waterbirds, shorebirds, and songbirds. The primary responsibility at Magee Marsh is the development and maintenance of high-quality wetland habitats for a diverse array of wetland wildlife species. Beautiful hiking trails lined with information surrounding the wildlife are scattered throughout the wildlife area. They have a wildlife information center amidst the Wildlife conservation area to provide information to hikers and visitors.

Jolly Rogers Seafood House:
